Welcome to The Whimsical Dart
Darts began in medieval England as a pastime of throwing shortened arrows at wooden targets, whose natural rings inspired the game. In 1896, Brian Gamlin developed the modern dartboard numbering to reward accuracy. With the introduction of sisal bristle boards in the early 20th century, darts spread quickly through British social settings.
Today, the game is played around the world, from friendly gatherings to professional competitions, as well as in individual homes. At its heart, darts remains what it has always been: a simple game of skill, camaraderie, and playful challenge, whether alone or with others.
What is The Whimsical Dart?
The Whimsical Dart plays three roles in the ongoing evolution of this beloved game. It welcomes new players through the Relational Dart series, offers personalized dartboard environments through Gold & Mulligan’s curated cork installations, and elevates the pause between throws with a dart holder series that honors how and where darts rest.
This website offers an introduction to our work, but we look forward to connecting with you directly.
